Submissive urination occurs when a dog feels threatened. It may occur when he’s being punished or verbally scolded, or when he’s approached by someone he perceives to be threatening to him. It’s important to remember that this response is based on the dog’s perception of a threat, not the person’s actual intention.
Training your dog to walk calmly on a leash is not as difficult as it first appears. Dogs will naturally follow the leader of their pack, so first and foremost, we must establish our position as pack leader. Basic obedience, a necessary component of leash training, works well to establish this pecking order.
Deciding what kind of dog to get is as important as deciding whether to get a dog in the first place. The AKC recognizes over 150 different breeds of dog, and each of these breeds has its own unique temperament, appearance, activity level and set of needs. You should do some serious and careful research to determine which breed of dog is right for you and your family. Here are some things to consider:
A “puppy mill” is a commercial enterprise that breeds large numbers of puppies for profit. There is nothing intrinsically illegal about puppy mills, and many are inspected and licensed. Often, puppy mills do not sell their stock directly, but ship to dealers and pet stores in other states. Puppy mills are only considered newsworthy if multiple puppies have died from disease or neglect.
What do you do if you think you have found a puppy mill? Follow these three steps to stop puppy mills in their tracks.
The first thing we need to do is to take total control over the dog in terms of where he is allowed to sleep, eat and play. The dominant dog should never be allowed to sleep in the bed. The best place to sleep is always reserved for the pack leader (that’s you). Make your dog sleep in a dog crate or on the floor. If dominance is an issue, then it may make sense for the dog to sleep in another room altogether.
Does your friendly and lovable pup suddenly become a suspicious and snarling animal at mealtime? Does a favorite toy or treat send him scurrying under the nearest table while growling at anyone who even looks his direction?
Dogs behave aggressively towards other dogs primarily for one of two reasons: they fear the dog or they perceive the dog to be a threat to their social standing (pack order).
all too often normal obedience training does not solve the aggression problem. This is because the pack leader issue has not been settled with the dog. When aggression issues continue after or during obedience training the dog does not look to the owner as the leader.

Most dogs will seek out a place in your home that will mimic a den. You will often find them sleeping under a table or desk. Dog crates make excellent dens and can serve as a refuge, a hangout and a bedroom. It is very important that the dog crate is never used as punishment – the crate must always be regarded as a safe and special retreat. The most common misconception about a dog crate is that it is a cruel form of caging a pet. This is completely false, and in fact, a dog will actually find a crate to be a secure and safe sanctuary in the same manner as a wolf enjoys the comfort of a den for resting and eating. Why do Dog Owners Love Crates?Next to the training collar and leash, the dog crate is the proven training tool most recommended by professional dog trainers, groomers and veterinarians. Once accustomed to the dog crate, unfavorable behaviors such as house soiling, destructive chewing, digging, unnecessary barking, and howling can be avoided. Crate training is also an ideal system to help ease separation anxiety. Since the dog’s habits will be much easier to regulate by using the dog crate, discipline for misbehavior will be less necessary which will allow a stronger dog and owner relationship. Crate-trained dogs travel easier in their “den” since they feel secure. This sense of security is also helpful if a dog needs to stay at the veterinarian or groomer since the dog is already accustomed to being crated. And, compared to the cost of replacing furniture, plants, carpet, and other personal items that may be destroyed when a dog is allowed to roam a household unsupervised, the expense of a crate is very economical.Color BlackSize 24×18×20?Weight 17 lbs.

Here’s A Quick Way To Train Your Dog Or New Puppy
After watching what professional dog trainers can achieve, I went in search of a reference which I could use to work with my best friend. I finally settled on the Sit Stay Fetch manual which proved to be an excellent resource and outstanding value. I will outline the material covered and methods taught in the following paragraphs.
Theres a pretty impressive range of information packed into this guide. Its not just the problem behaviors that are covered: the book starts off with new-owner advice (how to choose a puppy/dog, the best places to get one from, breed information, puppy/dog-proofing your home, the first vet visit, house training, etc) and then moves on to the more advanced stuff: behavioral problems (such as aggression, dominance, chewing, digging, excessive barking, separation anxiety, to name a few), intermediate-level obedience commands, health-related dog problems (allergies, cat/dog coexistence, fleas, heatstroke, and so on), and advanced commands and tricks.
The newest dog training techniques, including dog whispering are included. In fact, there is a complete section on dog whispering, a method based on using voice and body language to train your pet. Step by step instructions are present for the standard commands, such as sit, come, down., stay etc. It is truly amazing to see what can be accomplished by this system by using clear communication and mutual respect. Apart from the basic commands, it can also be effectively used to correct behavior and discipline when required. This section alone is worth the low purchase price.
Included with your purchase are several very good books. Topics covered are house training your dog using either the paper or crate methods, using your dog for security, handling aggressive behavior and health issues such as dental care, nail length and clipping as well as grooming.
I have enjoyed both dogs and cats from since I was a very young lad, however this material has really helped me better understand and expand the relationship I have with my best friend. It has really helped both of us !
You have many dog training options available to you in this package. Whether you go with the basic and easy conventional approach, or with the step by step dog whispering system, both you are your dog will have a better understanding of each other and the expectations required. It will be an exciting and fun journey for both participants.
I have no qualms in recommending this package to anyone who owns, or is thinking about owning, a dog. You dont need to have a problem pet for the manual to be of assistance: theres information included thatll be useful to any and all dog owners. In a nutshell, I highly recommend this package.

How to Turn the Mini Jail Crate into Your Dog’s Natural Den
There is more to the crate than meets the eye. It provides a safe haven for your puppy and frees up time for you to go about your daily chores without worrying for the security of your new pup. Those who are not aware of the usefulness of a crate will see it as a form of torture for dogs, however, if crate training is carried out properly, it can be a fun and rewarding for both you and your puppy. It’s effectiveness cannot be denied, as shown by the number of professional dog trainers who swear by it when potty training.
Getting the Right Crate Size – An ideal dog training crate should be large enough to allow your dog to stretch out without hitting his head and allow him to be able to turn around easily. The size of the crate is consider too large if you find your dog relieving himself in one corner and playing and sleeping in another. You can block off and make the crate smaller by blocking off certain section with wooden cardboards if your pup is still young.
Critical Crate Training Rules – You must introduce the crate slowly to your dog when you begin crate training. Crate him in short intervals, about 10 minutes, and gradually increase the duration over time. All dogs need some time to get used to staying in the crate. Do not leave your dog in the crate for more than thirty minutes when you begin to crate train him.
It is not recommended to left a pup in a crate for long hours. Your puppy should have the chance to exercise and urinate before being crated. Dogs are fastidious creatures and have no desire to soil the surroundings of their private spaces. However, he might be forced to relieve himself if you cruelly lock him in for longer than he can hold it in.
A rule of thumb to gauge how long your puppy should be in his crate is to add an hour to his age in months. For example, a puppy who is two months old must not be left in a crate in excess of three hours.
It’s common for pups to bark and moan to attract your attention while in the crate. If any of these things happen when he is in the crate, do not give him any attention! Yes! Do not even look in his direction.
Dogs are intelligent animals. Do not let on that he will be able to get your attention and change your mind when he is upset. Simply ignore him. Reward your dog with a little treat or praises only when you find him behaving well in the crate.
Offer a treat or toy to distract and calm your pup down if necessary. No matter what you do, you must not let your pup out of the crate, this is a very critical moment where you must not give in.
If you notice that your dog displays hyper active behavior as compared to before, you might be crating him for too long. If your dog starts to chew on himself, let him out immediately and consult a trainer or behaviorist.
Below are some suggestions and tips to aid you in crate training your puppy:
1. To make it easier for your pup to accept his crate, play with him there, or spent time near the crate doing whatever you like, reading or playing video games while he is busy playing with his new toy. If he is there all by himself, he begins to associate the area with isolation and may resist being there at all.
2. Start crate training at the start of dinner. Give him his food, one piece at a time, by throwing bits of kibble in to the crate and making him search for it. This is one of the many ways that you can do to make crate training fun for him.
3. You can place his favorite toy, or even surprise him with treats hidden in the crate for him. To surprise him, you can even hide a biscuit in the crate – that’s fun!
4. It is not advisable to keep him in the crate for long periods until he is pressured to relieve himself. If you are gone for long periods each day, you should consider a larger confinement area such as an exercise pen or a small room.
5. The best place to place the crate would be where your puppy can see the environment and family members, hear and smell you, the owner.
6. Do not punish your dog in his crate, it will backfire. Your pup will tend to enjoy his stay in the crate more readily if you can make him associate crate stay with a time for fun. The crate is suppose to be your dog’s natural den where he feels safe and comfortable, not where he’ll be punish and associate it with “bad things”.
7. Crate training cannot be used as a permanent solution to ensuring your dog is kept safe without supervision. Pups must not be left in crates alone for long period of time. Your training duration will be affected greatly if you crate him for too long and he urinate in the crate.
In sum, crate training is a necessary training tool when instilling obedience. The main benefits are to provide the owner with a peace of mind knowing that the dog is safe, reduce unwanted destructive behaviors in the house and make it easier to travel during short term confinement, whenever the owner requires it
security, safety, reduce potentially destructive behaviors, add to the ease of traveling and protection for short term confinement, whenever the owner needs it. It is a vital lesson that all pups should pick up since young.
